The Trustees were appointed for an initial term of four years with the exception of Mrs L M Scrimshaw who was appointed for an initial period of five years.
Governance and Management
The Charity is operated under the rules of its CIO Association adopted 14 April 2023. The assets of The Barber Holt Trust were appointed to The Barber Holt Charity on 5 April 2022. The Baber Holt Charity held the assets on Trust subject to its registration as a CIO by the Charity Commission. The accounts have been prepared using Merger accounting.
The Trustees met four times during the year (2023 – three times) to discuss the affairs of the Charity.
In selecting individuals for appointment as Charity Trustees, the existing Trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO.
Objectives and Activities
The Charity objectives are to relieve the needs of persons residing in East Anglia area who are on the autistic spectrum and who may suffer from any related conditions by the provision of grants in order to improve their quality of life and support them to reach their full potential.
Public Benefit Statement
The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in Section 4 of the Charities Act 2006 to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit, ‘Charities and Public Benefit’.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit
The Charity Trustees considered various charitable causes to further its aims during the year. It was agreed to donate £500 to the West Norfolk Autism Group to fund a specific activity and the Charity committed to donate £3,000 per annum from January 2024 towards the costs of its general operations.
The Charity’s policy on reserves
The Charity aims to keep a reserve in its current account to cover ongoing committed grants.
Investment Policy
The Charity has a documented investment policy in place. The Trustees meet at least annually to review the investment performance and the investment policy.
