Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
The shed has been attracting new members throughout the year by advertising online and attending local fairs, there are now 40 members. Working with the local Chertsey society they have repaired a water pump at the local church. .
At Christmas the shed are supplying mock fire places for the local shops to decorate to make their shop fronts festive. The Mens shed support the local Summer and Christmas Goose fairs and won ‘best stall’ at the summer fair where the Worshipful the Mayor of Runnymede awarded a prize. The 2025 Christmas Goose Fair will be supported by members selling home made festive products.
Outside of the shed friendship groups have formed and were involved in a bowls match with a local club.
They regularly look out for each other and recently our 93 year old member was stuck in Cornwall and one member took the train there to help him come home. After a hospital admission, shed members visited our wheelchair user and he is now back involved in the shed.
This Christmas, the shed members and some of the trustees are having a celebratory dinner together in a local pub. To top the year, one shed member won best new volunteer at the Runnymede Volunteer awards, hosted by the Mayor and beating 5 other nominees.
