The Gloucester (1682) Charitable Trust is an independent charity set up in 2023 to raise funds to secure the heritage future of the wreck of HMS Gloucester, conserve the historic artefacts rescued from the site, create a permanent home for the artefacts to be displayed and enjoyed by the public, and to encourage research into 17th century maritime history and the lives of those on board.

Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are:to Advance Heritage For The Public Benefit By Assisting With The Recovery And Preservation Of The Gloucester (1682) And Related Or Connected Artefacts.to Advance Education For The Public Benefit By: - The Establishment And Maintenance Of A Museum Or Permanent Exhibition In Norfolk To House The Gloucester (1682) And Related Or Connected Artefacts; - Promoting And Furthering Interest, Research (Including Publishing The Results Of Such Research) And Knowledge In Maritime History, Navigation, Safety And Undersea Heritage And Archaeology Wherever Located.
