Health Promotion workshops -
A combination of webinars and in person seminars covering health topics which are prevalent in the Black community (e.g.
diabetes, high blood pressure, fibroids). These are free workshops delivered by qualified doctors and dentists who are experts
within each specific field and open to all in the Black community. The aim is to increase health literacy and empower the
community to take charge of their health.
Outreach Workshops -
In person workshops in primary and secondary schools encouraging Black children to consider careers in Medicine and
Dentistry. By doing so the aim is to increase visual representation of Caribbeans in Medicine and Dentistry and promote equality
and diversity.
Professional Development -
In order to increase representation of Caribbean doctors and dentists in leadership positions within the NHS and improve overall
career prospects, we have curated a mentorship program for our members and also delivered training in leadership and
management skills.
Research -
Conducting research on our members' experience of discrimination and racism and whether this has hindered their progress.
Also conducted a study and presented results on the underrepresentation of Caribbean students in medical and dental schools.
The above duties have been carried out with regard to the commission’s public benefit guidance.
