The charity represents families of
children aged 0–25 with SEND in
Southwark, collaborating with local
service providers to improve SEND
services. Its core activities include:
-
Consulting with families: Gathering
their views and sharing information
to empower them to better support
their children.
-
Reducing isolation: Creating
opportunities for families to connect
through coffee mornings, events,
and networking opportunities.
-
Providing peer support: Facilitating
sessions where families can share
experiences and receive emotional
support from others in similar
situations.
-
Signposting for advice: Directing
families to appropriate services and
resources for professional advice
and guidance.
-
Promoting accessibility and
inclusivity: Celebrating equality and
diversity by ensuring all activities are

While volunteers have not contributed
during this financial period, we are
actively putting a strong volunteer

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 Our committed trustees have worked
tirelessly to build connections with
professionals, schools, and services
across Southwark, ensuring they are
aware of our mission and the support
we offer. This networking has been vital
in positioning Southwark Independent
Voice as a trusted referral point for
families seeking guidance and support.
We have engaged directly with families
across the borough, listening to their
needs and priorities. This feedback
helped us to put together activities that
cater to children and young people with
a wide range of needs and ages.
During 2024–2025, Southwark
Independent Voice delivered two key
community events: a family day trip and
a New Year celebration, supporting 123
families of children and young people
with SEND.
These events created accessible,
inclusive spaces where families could
meet others with shared experiences in
a relaxed and supportive environment.
For many families, this was their first

opportunity to take part in a SENDfriendly social activity, reducing barriers to participation and increasing confidence to engage in community life.

The events strengthened peer connections, enabling parents and carers to exchange practical advice, share experiences, and build informal support networks that continued beyond the events themselves. Families reported feeling more connected, understood, and supported.
