**During 2024–2025, Southwark**
**Independent Voice delivered two key**
**community events: a family day trip and**
**a New Year celebration, supporting 123**
**families of children and young people**
**with SEND.**
**These events created accessible,**
**inclusive spaces where families could**
**meet others with shared experiences in**
**a relaxed and supportive environment.**
**For many families, this was their first**| **opportunity to take part in a SENDfriendly social activity, reducing barriers to participation and increasing confidence to engage in community life.** **The events strengthened peer connections, enabling parents and carers to exchange practical advice, share experiences, and build informal support networks that continued beyond the events themselves.
