Sept 2023: jointly hosted ‘Classical Collections Network in Scotland’, a one-day joint event with the Hellenic and Roman Societies hosted by National Museums Scotland. Open to museums and members of the Hellenic and Roman Societies. Provided an opportunity for museums working with classical collections to promote their work and share their experiences. Opportunity for museums with classical collections to learn from the curator of a major collection and exhibition, and to generate ideas to share their own collections for public benefit. More information about the event is available here: https://classicalcollectionsnetwork.co.uk/2024/02/21/return- of-the-gods-and-creative-approaches/, Ongoing: the CCN is developing a map of public museums with classical collections around the UK, which is shared freely on its website for public benefit. In this period, trustee Ollie Croker drew together his own research on collections of Greek vases in UK museums with the CCN’s existing listing of relevant museums, adding to the number of known collections. We began testing Peripleo, a free map visualisation software, as a possible new platform to improve on the Google map currently used on the CCN website. |
