Conference, raising awareness of the network among Classics
researchers, teachers and museum professionals. A summary is

Sept 2023: jointly hosted ‘Classical Collections Network in
Scotland’, a one-day joint event with the Hellenic and Roman
Societies hosted by National Museums Scotland. Open to
museums and members of the Hellenic and Roman Societies.
Provided an opportunity for museums working with classical
collections to promote their work and share their experiences.
Evaluation responses were highly positive, with on overall
rating of 4.8 out of 5. A write-up of the event is available here:

October 2023: tour of the ‘Return of the Gods’ exhibition at
World Museum Liverpool and workshop on small scale
exhibitions and gallery interventions. Opportunity for
museums with classical collections to learn from the curator of
a major collection and exhibition, and to generate ideas to
share their own collections for public benefit. More

Ongoing: the CCN is developing a map of public museums with
classical collections around the UK, which is shared freely on its
website for public benefit. In this period, trustee Ollie Croker
drew together his own research on collections of Greek vases
in UK museums with the CCN’s existing listing of relevant
museums, adding to the number of known collections. We
began testing Peripleo, a free map visualisation software, as a
possible new platform to improve on the Google map currently

interest to its membership for someone to lead
on fundraising efforts, as the Trustees aim to
apply for funds to support network activities in

benefit its membership and goals, through
funds provided via partnership with other
organisations. The event in September 2023
was organised in collaboration with the
Hellenic and Roman Societies, which funded
travel for some speakers, and National
Museums Scotland, which offered space free of
charge and provided refreshments.| In February 2024 the Classics Section at Newcastle University paid [redacted] £268.80 from funding for outreach in order to carry out work to develop the CCN’s website. This work was separate from their usual role as Membership Secretary for the CCN. charity trustees would not as a result be exceeded;
(5) A person so appointed by the members of the
CIO shall retire in accordance with the
provisions of sub-clauses (1) and (2) of this clause.
A person so appointed by the charity
trustees shall retire at the conclusion of the next
annual general meeting after the date of
his or her appointment, and shall not be counted
for the purpose of determining which of the charity
