Annual Review
Hagley Field Sports Association was established in August 2023. This review therefore Is our first full year report.
Soon after establishment of the charity, Hagley Field Sports Association took tenancy of Hagley Field, a large green space in the centre of Rugeley. This tenancy allowed the charity to begin delivering on its objectives to create and maintain premium football pitches for grassroots youth teams.
As the charity began without any income, efforts started in earnest and ten football pitches of various FA sizes, covering all age groups were mapped on the field. The grass was mowed by volunteers, using their own equipment and pitches were marked by hand.
The Association was pleased to be approached by multiple local football clubs and teams who wanted to use Hagley Field as their home pitch. A pricing structure was established to allow clubs and teams to rent pitches for a season or for one off games.
In our second year of existence we have more than doubled the number of clubs and teams playing at Hagley Field from 5 clubs, to 10 clubs. This equals 21 teams, and roughly 350 Children playing weekly football matches at our venue.
£9,365.00 of revenue was generated during the financial year of January – Dec 2024. This was fully from pitch rentals as we did not receive any donations this year. Income was used to purchase paint for pitches, Equipment maintenance, and petrol. We reseeded all the grass pitches and also inserted sports sand to help in drainage. All work on the fields were done through volunteers so the charity had no employment costs. The Association finished the year with a surplus of £265.00
We have become known in Staffordshire of having some of the best grassroots football pitches and have had many published compliments and more teams and clubs requesting to play at our venue.
2025 Plans
Throughout the next year the Association will continue to offer premium pitches to local grassroot football teams and clubs and hopes to attract more clubs and teams to play at Hagley Field.
We have began talks with in the FA, Local Authorities to start our designs and work on a clubhouse/ toilet facilities and changing rooms for the venue. This will allow us to grow and hopefully in return grow our income.
Long term plans/ goals would be to insert Floodlights, fencing and seating areas for the pitches.
