Annual Report and Accounts for 10[th] January to 31[st] December 2023
Birch Park Community Hub was formally recognised as a CIO (registration number 1201537) on 10[th] January 2023 by the Charity Commission for England & Wales.
Whilst we were thrilled to be formally recognised and registered with the regulator there was a lot to learn about running a charity. One of our foremost challenges was opening a bank account for the charity which was not achieved until 31[st] October and therefore the majority of the year we were functioning through Nottingham City Council’s Community’s Team who received income and paid bills for us until we had our own account.
The income and expenditure for our first financial year was therefore:
Income of £631 of which £630 was for room hire and £1 was a deposit made by the Chair to enable the bank account to be opened.
Expenditure of £83.88 which relates to payments for our broadband and phone line
We therefore had £547.12 to carry forward into the next financial year.
As our income was well below the £25,000 threshold to require independent examination of our accounts, these have been accepted by the trustees as a true record of our activity for the year and as such have been signed off by the chair, Mr Nerpal Singh.
