Para 1.20 We did 5 talks to local groups including
history groups, young farmers clubs,
university and college students.
11 school visits were done with a fell pony.
9 agricultural shows and events were
attended with tradestands.
3 farmers markets were attended with
tradestands.
3 standalone fundraising events were held.
2 fell pony stud open days were held.
A film was produced in conjunction with
students from Cumbria University on their
wildlife media course.
A life drawing course was held with
instruction given on drawing fell ponies, this
doubled up as a fundraiser as well as raising
awareness of the breed and its
characteristics.
We took part in the Epona project which
resulted in a month long exhibition at the
Rheged centre raising awareness of the
breed and its heritage.
A feature was done on BBC Radio Cumbria.
We were one of the guest speakers at the
Rare Breeds Stallion AI project at Gemini
Genetics, Whitchurch Shropshire.
Through these events we have participated
in we have benefitted the general public by
raising awareness of the breed, its heritage
and the part it plays in the eco system. The
trust has raised money to fund promotional
literature and expenses, merchandise has
begun to be produced and sold to advertise
the trust and help us financially.
