Para 1.20 | We did 5 talks to local groups including history groups, young farmers clubs, university and college students. 11 school visits were done with a fell pony. 9 agricultural shows and events were attended with tradestands. 3 farmers markets were attended with tradestands. 3 standalone fundraising events were held. 2 fell pony stud open days were held. A film was produced in conjunction with students from Cumbria University on their wildlife media course. A life drawing course was held with instruction given on drawing fell ponies, this doubled up as a fundraiser as well as raising awareness of the breed and its characteristics. We took part in the Epona project which resulted in a month long exhibition at the Rheged centre raising awareness of the breed and its heritage. A feature was done on BBC Radio Cumbria. We were one of the guest speakers at the Rare Breeds Stallion AI project at Gemini Genetics, Whitchurch Shropshire. Through these events we have participated in we have benefitted the general public by raising awareness of the breed, its heritage and the part it plays in the eco system. The trust has raised money to fund promotional literature and expenses, merchandise has begun to be produced and sold to advertise the trust and help us financially. |
