Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 The relief of poverty of orphans and poor
children in Uganda for the public benefit.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or services
identified in the accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
The main activity this year is to sink a well to
provide irrigation of crops for feeding the
pigs. This will provide a sustainable
livelihood for the orphans and poor children
in Hoima Uganda for public benefit. In
addition it provides clean drinking water for
the benefit of the local community.
In supporting this activity our aim was to
raise a minimum of £5,000 this year and the
remaining cost in 2024 to meet the
estimated cost of £9,000 for the completion
of the project.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 The trustees familiarised themselves with
the Charity Commission guidance in
conjunction with the Diocesan Executive
Director of Justice and Peace Commission in
Hoima Uganda decided that a well project
providing clean drinking and irrigation water
for maize and bean crops would benefit the
poor children and orphans as well as the
local community in Hoima Uganda.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The Well Project has been divided into 3
phases.
Phase 1
A.Drilling of a bore hole to locate water
B.The necessary engineering work to secure
the well.
C. The installation of a submersible pump.
D.The construction of a shelter for a security
guard.
Phase 1 has now been achieved and paid
for by the UPPCIO.
This is making progress towards the end
point of the project which will provide clean
water to irrigate the crops and prevent the
time consuming need for transporting water
by barrel. It will also provide wider benefits
for the local community who currently do not
have clean drinking water and are prone to
waterborne disease such as diarrhoea,
typhoid and hepatitis. The clean drinking
water will be available on tap and prevent
disease.
Phase 2
This is currently underway to provide the
irrigation system.
Phase 3
This will follow with the installation of a 3,000
litre storage tank and the installation of solar
panels to provide electricity to power the
pump.
