Activi118s of the group.. The Side-By-Side Women's Group began in January 2023. They met on Fridays from 12..OOhrs lo 14'.OOhrs in The SBncluary building which is a community hub In the centre of Sheffidd that serves and supports people seeking sanctuary and refvgees. Until recenuy there was a regular attendance of al)out 25 with a further 10 or so who attend from me lo tSme. Many of the members of The Women'8 Group have very Ilmiled proficiency in th8 English language, so we focu5 on aclivilies involving leaming English through drama games, speaking, and listening exercises and singing. We also do meditation and wellbeing exercis8s. We have been exploring the Seasons as we go through the yaar, thus providing a consistènt and ongoing Iheme, The group Is now really getting lo know one another better. and Johanna our facllftator reports IhaL "this has been a joy lo see."

Side By Side offers Iwo-hour weekly drama and music sesSn$. We also ty have one promotional patylevent per year lo share our work with the community of Shaffld. Al Slde By Sld8. we seek to use drama and music as a toc4 to increase Gommunlty cohesion and strengthen bonds befv4een different sections of the community. Through our work la1 playll we aim to redu social Isolation and promote integration. W8 usa dr8ma and music as the springboard for a range of games and activities and devising pro¢e$se$ ¢ulminaling in publlc performances and creative promotional events. We use Theatre lo raise awareness about currgnt issues. specifically those issues direcuy affecting our members. by 8xploring is$ues in workshops and devising one play a year which we show to publlc 8udlences. We also perform&J al local schools. During our weekly sessions. our members have thg opportunity to have direGt Gontscl and experien with peo8 they may not usually meet in their day-lo-day Ilfe. The Women's group 1$ run on Friday aftemoons hyo hours and is oft¢n oversubscribed due lo its popularity. Flnanclal Revlew Totsl rec*ipts Increased in the year under review, 30 September 2023, to £23.808.00 from £21,043.00 in the previous year. Side By side Drama Group Sheffield received funding during the year from The South Yorkshire Communrty Fund, The Brelms Trust, The Sheff¢eld Town Trust and The National Lottery Communlty Fund. Facilitslor and travel costs went up in 2023 to £7,910.00 and £8,760.00 from £4,625.00 and £2,520.00 respectively in 2022.Thg increase in the above costs were Cas1oned by the fact that Side By Siile is now running two workshops a week. The main workshop Is on a Tuesday and the second one is a Women's Group run every Friday. Side By Side Drama Group Sheffield is now a registered Charitable Incorporated organisatn the process of which was done and completed in the year under review.
