EDUCATION 4 CHANGE TRUSTEES, REPORT YEAR ENDED 31 JULY 2024 During this finanual year, Education4Change has launched 'Slrength4Change' (which teachers can now start rolling out within their settingsl-, hosted our Annual Headteachers confe￿￿￿., and progressed engagement and collaboration with educational settings across the country. In addition to this, our expert leaffl of conlenl ujralors have continued to refresh E4C's Curriculum Resources Platform lo ensure teachers have amss lo the most relevant resources. Summer 2023.. Strength4Change IS4CI: A focus on mental health, wellbeing and belonglng E4C launched the Slrenglh4Change-a 6-week programme lo ￿ run in schools that provides a Spa￿ for young people lo leam more about m8ntal h8alth and discuss strategies for overcorning Challenges in a safe and irnpactful way.11 also seeks lo tackle the impact of racial traurna that rnany of our young people may be experiencing. S4C was ￿ated in partnership with CAMHS was Irialled wth secondary school pupils in 2022. Al lacilrtalors of S4C need lo be trained prior lo rolling out the programme,. and thi5 surnmer, the first training look place al Dersingham Primary School with sch￿1 leaders and ambassadors from 26 Newham sthods in attendan￿. Our E4C trainers began by eX￿aIN1￿g the scope and rationale for the programme (which focuses on destigrnatising mental health among young people and equips Ihern ￿7th the skills and confidence to talk wlh peers, teachers and family about their mental health and various factors that affect ill. Teacher facalilalors from the tsjo Schools participating in the trial (Kingsford and Dersingharnl then shared lheirexperien￿S ol running the programme, induding feedback trom pupils, offering ideas for best practice as well as drawng attention lo possible challenges ol delivering the programme. Parts'cipants were then gNen an opportunity to explore the materials related lo S4C arKI discuss the potential difficulties ol delivering the programme wthin their educational setting. All participants left wrth a deliverable action plan about how the programme would be implemented within their own setting and tailored advice from a mernber of the E4C team. The feedback was overnhelmingly positive, with participants saying that a programme like S4C is long overdue within their schools and they fell empowered and well equipped lo deliver il in the coming school ygaT. Autumn 2023.. E4C Annual Headteachers Conference | Navigating Dlfficult Conversatlons.. Israel-Pale$tlne in the Classroom In winler2023, E4C hekl its annual Headleachers ConfereTr￿, tsking as itslheme'courageous Conversation Needed Now, in ￿SpOnSe lo the growing tensions and divisions wlhin school communities around the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. The event was developed lo support educators navigating a deeply sensitive and polarising topic that had caused distress and disagreement among staff teams, students, and their wider communities. The Conferen￿ provided teachers with practical, thoughfful strategies for discussing the conflict in ways that pric>rilise sludenl wellbeing, critical thinking, and respect for diverse perspectives. Our keynote speaker, Mohammed Ali Amla a respected educator and representslive of the charity Solutions Not Sides shared an insighfful and impactful approach rcM)ted in conflict Tesolution, compassion and empathy. His contribub'on helped frame a constructive path forward lor schools seeking lo maintain safe, inclusive spaces while addressing complex global issues. The event was a lirnely and necessary intervention, equipping educators to handle difficult conversations with care, confidence, and compassion. SprIn￿SuMMer 2024.. Collaboration wtth Exceed Trust Academies Bradford In summer 2024, E4C slrenglhened its collaboration with Exce8d Academies Trust, a diverse family of schools in Bradford encompassing primary, secondary, and allemalive provision inslilulions. Our team visited several schools within the Twsl, engaging direcdy with headle8¢hers lo better understand the challenges they fa￿ in their diverse school communities. These conversations offered valuable insight into the day-lo-day realities ol leading indusive sch(K)Is and informed our approach lo lulure collaboration. The visit culminated in the delivery of a keynote speech al the Trust's annual conferen2E, where we explO￿d the impaclof unconscious bias and racial trauma in education. We shared practical strategies lorcrealing equitable, Iraurna.infofmed environments where all sludenls and staff feel seen, safe, and supported.
