Bristol and South Gloucestershire Swimming Club IBSGI was formed in March 2025 from a merger between Bristol Penguins Olympic Swimming Club and Soundwell Swimming Club (official name change on 1 st April 20251- two longstanding clubs vAthin the Bristol area. The dub now operates from multiple sites across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, including Hengrove, Henbury. Badminton S¢hool. Easton. Kingswood, Wintert)ourne and Bath Univèisity. Our elh05 Is lo leach and coach our members. not just lo swirll bul lo become lifelong swirnrneis. We aim to provide a productive yet enjoyable environment where each swimmer can progress and strive for excellence along their own individual swimming journey. We also aim lo do our bit to help our young members develop as young people as well as swimmèrs, such as through our young volunteer programme. Our dub is managed by a group of dedicated and well organised volunteer committee members. BSG is cotnrnitted lo providing a caring, friendly. and safe enviionmenl for all our members, so that when they participate in club aciivities, they do so in a relaxed and secure environment. We are a friendly swimming club and airn to value each one ol our members. We have around 900 mémbèrs ranging from thosè learning to be swimmers. competitive and less compétitive s￿ri￿rnerS, perforrnan￿ athletes, a masters section for adults and provision lor those with addrtional needs. In the summer we run an open w*er piogr8mme. Soci81 events are 8lso an important part of the calendar. We have a policy of supporting those in hardship to be able to access club activities and we organise swimming galas for local primary schools and swimrning lessons to support older piimary agèd childr8n to bè ablè to swim at léast 25m and havè an understanding of water safety.

This last Swimming season. the club has run a full weekly swimming progiamrne. This has been complemented by additional activities such as swimming competitions. We continue to work with swrnrning pool operators, local schools, UWE and have a partnership with Badrninton School. These working rélationships help ensure we have suffi¢ient walei lime for our swirnming activities and we can attract new members to join the club. We follow the Swim England guidance and continue to hold'swim Mark, Accreditation- the kite mark for swimming clubs to confirm they are run properfy, including that the necessary governance and safèguarding arrangèmsnts arè in plaeè. The olub ha5 continued with ils wder wmtniltnenl10 5UPPOrting swirnming in Bristol. We offer financial support where costs are a barrier to participation and swrimming lessons for local primary school children unable to swim 25m. We continue lo provide a dedicated session for para swmmers, potential para swimmers and those with additional needs. In April 2024 we established an Inclusive Learn to Swim programme of lessons supported by Access Sport which introduces s￿mMIng lo ¢hildren with varying needs. The Iruslees have had regard lo the Charity Cornrllission's guidance on public benefit in managing the activities of the charity. The managernent of the Charity is the responsibility of the Trustees who are elected and ctropled under the térms of the Charity Commission Scheme. The trusteès are eligible. in commrttee. to appoint trustees under the terms of the CIO constitution. In selecting individLJals for appointment as trustees, the existing trustees must have regard to the skills, knovledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO. The charitys organisational structure. The charity is govemed by the constitLrtion and was approved initially by Swim England Inational governing bodyl and subsequently was then approved by the members at the AGM on 26th May 2022. The ¢onstitLrtion and application for eligible trustees was approved by the Charity Commission on 22nd September 2022. The Club Constitution was updated on 24th November 2024, followng 8 Special General Meeting about the rneiger of Bristol Penguins and Soundwell. Al this meeting those present passed a proposal to change the voting age to members age 16 and above (previously 181. There are no endowment funds. 2 Llablllty to tsxatlon The Trustees consider that the charity satisfies the tests sel out in Paragraph 1 Schedule S of the Finance Act 2010 for UK corporation tax purposes. Accordingly, the Charity 15 Potentially exempt from taxation in respect of Incorne 01 capital gains received within categories covered by chapter 3 part 11 of the Corporation Tax Act 2010 or Section 256 of the Taxation of Chargeable Gains A¢t 1992. to the extent that such income or gains a￿ applied exdusively on the specific charitable objects of the charity and for no other purpose.
