Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 During this period, Creative Partnerships
Beaconsfield created four new mosaics with
people of all ages and abilities from the local
community. More than 750 people took part.
The mosaics fanned out from an existing mosaic
at the library, and were grouped together as part
of an art trail which can be enjoyed on foot.
A map was created with input from other local
groups and societies including the Holtspur
Scarecrow Trail and the Beaconsfield Historical
Society. The result was questions and puzzles
that encourage people to observe the mosaics in
detail. The trail map also gives historical
information on places of interest along the
route. It is distributed in places like the library,
the station and local cafes. The map was
created by a map designer who lives locally.
The four new mosaics are situated at the station,
a local supermarket, the postal delivery office
and a church hall that is used by local groups.
The first three feature local birds and the latter
another angel, linking the trail to the first
mosaics created in 2023.
Many local groups took part in workshops to
decorate the clay tiles which were then trimmed,
glazed and fired by the project artist Maud
Milton of Artyface who specialises in community
made mosaics. These groups included Alfiston
School for special educational needs, Seeleys
Overnight Care Home that offers respite for
people who have family members with
disabilities, patients of the local social
prescribing group. Workshops were also
organised for key workers on lower incomes
including the staff at Waitrose, Royal Mail
postmen and women and station staff with
Chiltern Rail.
All workshops are free and accessible. They are
an opportunity for people to come together,
learn about mosaics and allow themselves some
quiet time to calmly decorate and personalise
tiles. The aim of the charity is to bring people out
of isolation and impart new skills.
Many people comment on how much they enjoy
the process and how they like feeling part of a
community project. Beaconsfield is a busy
commuter town and there is a lack of activities
that bring people together.
