|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity's work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | The trustees had a number of online meetings and conversations with the displaced Ukrainian scientists. The scientists were made aware of the UK Researchers at Risk Fellowship programme provided by the British Academy. The programme was set up to bring Ukrainian academics to the UK to safely continue their research through a host institution. The trustees met with the Technology Transfer Manager William Mortimer at the University of Surrey. The discussion centred around opportunities for the displaced Ukrainian scientists to be provided with the safe place to work and continue their research at the Technology Transfer Department. This would benefit both the scientists and the University, as new ideas and new products would be developed. The trustees discussed a possibility of offering placements to the displaced Ukrainian scientists not only at UK Universities, but also in commercial companies. A number of meetings and discussions took place in relation to this. The trustees had an online meeting with Professor Inga Prokopenko at the University of Surrey. Inga advised on where to find job vacancies for the English-speaking scientists and how to approach job interviews in the academic environment. |
