Report of the Trustees
The trustees have the pleasure of submitting the Report and Accounts for the year ended 31 March 2023.
Objects of the charity
The charity's principal charitable objective is to advance the Christian faith. To this end, it seeks to demonstrate the Christian faith in action by being a church in the communities of Harrow and London.
Government
The policy and operating decisions of the charity rest with the trustees who meet regularly to monitor the activities of the Charity. New trustees are appointed by the existing trustees, by majority vote.
Review of Activities
The Church is not a building, but a gathering of ordinary people of different ages and backgrounds, whose lives have been changed by Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The New Testament reveals the Church as a community of people, properly taught and cared for, who by loving and serving Jesus Christ, we’re also committed to love and care for each other and to bringing a blessing to the area in which they live. Gate of Heaven International Ministries: its trustees, elders and members are committed to the restoration of those New Testament principles. It is not alone in this; it is one of many Churches in this country and all over the world that is re-discovering the excitement of knowing Jesus Christ. The vision is to see the people come into this experience of knowing Jesus as their Lord, Saviour, and friend.
During the year there has been a demonstration of the Christian faith in action by serving the community in which it operates in the following principal ways:
a) The church orchestrated numerous intimate gatherings wherein individuals can come together, openly discuss the challenges of living out their Christian faith, engage in worship, offer prayers, and mutually guide one another in their spiritual journey.
b) Classes and gatherings have been organized to assist newcomers in the area to assimilate and become integral members of their communities, especially those facing social or economic hardships, such as homelessness and refugees.
c) Members of the church have selflessly served their communities in myriad ways, often away from the public eye. They visit the sick, support the less fortunate, and manifest the love of Christ through their actions.
f) The church persistently hosted weekly fellowship meetings, including occasions like fasting and prayer, youth gatherings, and Bible studies, fostering a sense of community and spiritual growth among its members.
While organising the activities, the Trustees have adhered to the guidance on public benefit provided by both the Charity Commission and the UK Government.
Financial Review

Despite these hurdles, we successfully ralsed £15,149 and spent £18,523, resulting in an overall deficit of £3,374. It 15 important to highlight that securing access to certain grants would greatly enhance our ability to expand our activities and better seNe the local community. Reserves Policy The trustees have determined that the charity fund is limited so used only for essential operations of the charity. The charity is complying with its resetves policy. Rlsk Statement The trustees have reviewed the risks exposed to a small charily operating with no employees. Appropriate procedures are in place to regularly idenlify, monitor and review these risks. Cost of Llvlng Crlsls Despite our commendable efforts to assist individuals facing disadvantdges and vulnerability in our communityi the profound impact of the cost-of-living crisis cannot be overlooked. We have diligently provided support, including weekly prayers accompanied by hot and cold meals and beverages. While the charity contemplates establishing a care facility for the needy soon, securinE funds has become an arduous challenge. Donors and local organizations/councils are proving hesitant to contribute, and the escalating cost of livlng is slgnificantly Impeding the daily operations of the charity. Trustees, Responsibilitles Charity law requires us as Trustees to prepare financial statements for each accounting year which record the receipts and payments of the charity for the year. We are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the charity's financial position enables us to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charlties Act 2011.
