Para 1.20 | The Dylan Strong Foundation was successfully registered with the Charity Commission on 9thJune 2022. The initial focus of the charity has been in the Surrey region. Following a successful launch and fundraising event the charity commenced the provision of care packages to children receiving cancer treatment in hospitals in the local area. Feedback from children, parents and hospital staff has been very supportive. We also started providing healthy snacks to a local NHS hospital in Epsom along with leaflets explaining the work of the charity and signposting to further useful resources for families of children suffering with cancer. In July 2022 the charity held its first annual Family Fun Day for families of children suffering with cancer as well as the wider community providing fun activities, children’s entertainment, local radio and a dedicated support area. The event enabled families to come together and share experiences as well as raise public awareness in matters relating to childhood cancer within the wider community. In March 2023 we held our first Gala dinner at Epsom Downs racecourse to raise funds and promote the work of the charity. We’d like to thank all those who attended and gave generously. Over £31,000 was raised from the event. |
