Trustees’ Annual Report for the period

From 1[st] June 2024 to 31[st] March 2025

Charity name: The TARN Foundation

Charity registration number: 1199223

Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 The TARN Foundation’s purpose is:
Advancement of education in the
organisation and practice of trauma care for
the public benefit (both nationally &
internationally) including audit, research
and the publication of results from such
activities.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
During this reporting period the Trustees
have focussed on keeping in touch with the
ongoing political and organisational
changes in the systems for major trauma
audit within the NHS in order to inform a
future strategy for the Charity..
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 The Trustees have had regard to the
guidance issued by the Charity
Commission on public benefit.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 During the reporting period the charity has
had little activity. The charity is set up with
educational objectives related to major
trauma audit – however during the
reporting period there has been a
fundamental change in major trauma audit
with the set of the National Major Trauma
Registry (NMTR) within the National Health
Service.
The future strategy of the charity is crucially
dependent on the NMTR, but this
organisation is still in setup. Until the
NMTR setup is complete it is not possible
to write a strategy for the Chairty, and the
future timetable at present uncertain due to
the current reorganisation of NHS England.
The Trustees have met twice during the
reporting period and have decided not to
raise any income, as the current
circumstances give uncertainty about
whether any funds raised could be used for
the purposes set out in the TARN
Foundation’s objects.
The Trustees plan to keep the situation
under active review in the forthcoming
year.

Financial Review

Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end

of the charity becomes clear..
