Friends of Towcester Studio Band (FrOTS) Charity Registration Number: 1199110 Objectives and Activities The charity was established on 1 December 2015 and registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 27 May 2022. The objects of the Trust are: To promote brass band music for the benefit of the public by the provision of raising money for and grant funding Towcester Studio Band. Grantmakin Polic Friends of Towcester Studio Band seeks to support the additional needs of Towcester Studio Band through the provision of grants. Requests for Revenue and Capital Grants will be considered and areas of support wtll include but is not limited to: Sheet Music Equipment Instrument purchaselhire Instrument repair Uniforms Professional fees Training Bursaries Building maintenance (exceptional need) Achievements and Performance During 2022123, its first year of operation, the charity has been successful in raising donations sufficient to make grants to Towcester Studio Band in accordance with its grant making policy, towards the costs of items which would not constitute everyday activity. Two donations have been made totalling £1,259.31 covering the costs of replacing percussion equipment, and provision of concert music folders. Note: in addition, a payment of £133 was made in error to the charity and forwarded to Towcester Studio Band to rectify this. Snare drum - a donation was made to cover the purchase of a new snare drum to replace one that had broken. Concert folders - a donation enabled the purchase of a full set of concert folders to give a more professional presence on stage for formal concerts Reserves Policy The Trustees have not adopted a specific reserves policy since the demand for grants will be dependent on Towcester Studio Band's needs and request for support.
Fundraising Activities The charity is supported by generous monthly donations from its membership and from donations received from other sources. The charity will seek to increase its income through approaches to charitable trusts and foundations, the corporate sector and lottery funds, as appropriate. Risk Management The Trustees have considered the risks the charity may be subject to and are working on a Risk Register to be reviewed annually. Financial Review The charity brought forward a balance of £21,714 from a previous non-registered charity, also named Friends of Towcester Studio Band. The Trust's income is entirely derived from donations and totalled £8,369. Expenditure totalled £1,393 and the Trustees awarded grants totalling £1,259 to support applications received from Towcester Studio Band. There were no admin costs. At the year end, the charity held funds of £28,691, which are represented by cash held in its bank account. During 2023124 the charity hopes to make applications to a range of possible supporters in order to support Towcester Studio Band's increased training needs, community work and, replacement equipment, if required. I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 05/04/23.
- Responsibilities and As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation basis of report of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have examiner's statement come to my attention (other than that disclosed below *) in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:
