Annual Trustee Report 2023/24
Bradford Hindu Council (BHC) are going from strength to strength in terms of establishing a strong voice for our Hindu community in Bradford.
BHC continues to progress in the community and forging key links with leaders and organisations of the Bradford Community including those of other faith groups. Having established and strengthened partnerships with local institutions, such as the Bradford City Of Culture 2025, Bradford Council, the NHS, and educational establishments. These collaborations have enabled us to advocate for the needs of our community and secure support for our initiatives
The charity has strengthened its volunteer network, service delivery, etc, which has enabled us to work even more with new groups which has benefitted many including the BHC as a charity. On the fundraising aspect it has been very minimal, but we still have some projects to be delivered by the end this year.
The BHC Management Team has been formally established at the AGM, with some new members inc. a dedicated Treasurer, Business Advisor, IT/Data Webmaster, joining the existing team of Trustees.
At the AGM in February this year, BHC had a chairperson change with a new vice, previous chair remains as a Trustee on the Board. The charity felt change in organisations at the top is to keep the organisation evolving otherwise very little changes.
In terms of governance there is a lot of work remaining to be done with ensuring we have the right policies to meet the charity commission requirements and best practices.

The BHC are to do more work with our membership organisations now that we have established ourselves in the wider community of Bradford, and bringing the true riches of our community to the forefront in readiness for the City of Culture year 2025. This will entail providing the necessary support the member groups to enable them to progress and overcome di�iculties they are faced with or concerned about.

Due to the unity of BHC, we have been actively involved with Bradford City of Culture 2025 from the beginning. This meant we were involved with the launch which was shown on national television & media.
Attending multifaith events like Vaisakhi walk, 150[th] Anniversary of the Synagogue in Bradford, Bradford Cathedral events and Multifaith leaders gatherings the impact of these activities has been significant, reaching out even further to our members and achieving more success not only in participation but also delivering the message of who we are. BHC also actively participated in various community events, including interfaith dialogues, charity fundraisers, and cultural celebrations. These engagements have allowed us to connect with a diverse range of individuals and organisations, fostering a sense of belonging and unity.
We have made a major revamp of our website and IT capability, cultivating strong relationships with local and regional media outlets. The focus on enhancing our public image, strengthening our relationships with key stakeholders, and advocating for the needs and interests of our community.
We have expanded our digital footprint by creating and maintaining a strong online presence. Through our website and social media channels, we have shared information about our events, news, and resources, reaching a wider audience.
We continue to face challenges due to limited resources to address this, we will explore further opportunities for funding and partnerships. We will continue to seek innovative ways to engage with our community, particularly young people and those from marginalised groups.
