Appointment of trustees Trustee selection methods (a) Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed (eg. appointed by, elected by) for a term of three years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees. (b) In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO.

The objects of the CIO are to further or benefit the residents of North Kirklees and West Yorkshire without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents.
In furtherance of these objects but not otherwise, the trustees shall have power: to establish or secure the establishment of a community centre and to maintain or manage or co-operate with any statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a centre for activities promoted by the charity in furtherance of the above objects.

The Trustees are responsible for the keeping of proper accounting records, which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charity Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

The Trustees of the 20 20 Foundation Trust are pleased to present their annual report, highlighting the charity’s achievements and progress during the year, along with our ongoing commitment to improving the lives of individuals and families in the communities we serve.
We remain deeply committed to improving the lives of individuals and families, particularly those from marginalised groups and communities experiencing social and economic disadvantages of Mainly North Kirklees. Our work is grounded in values of inclusivity, empowerment, and equity, with focused efforts to engage individuals from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, including those who may not

traditionally access mainstream services and find in difficult to get support.
Achievements and Performance
The charity’s achievements and performances during the year were as follows:
1. Community Engagement
Over the past year, our projects and centre welcomed more than 10,000 individual visits and contacts from members of the local community and groups. This continued engagement demonstrates the trust and reliance placed on 20 20 Foundation Trust as an organisation and a vital support hub.
2. Youth Programmes
Our Young People’s Programme still maintains and supported around 80 young people each week, many from ethnic minority communities, offering tailored educational, recreational, and developmental activities. This year 2024, we successfully completed the OFSTED community youth programme process, gaining recognition for our high-quality provision and safeguarding standards.
3. Community Champions
Our Community Champions Project continues to make a tangible difference. This year:

12 local individuals were trained as Community Champions.

They delivered health and wellbeing messages to over 1,500 people, focusing on health prevention, early intervention, and wellbeing support.
• Champions specifically worked with hard-to-reach groups, including those with language barriers, newly arrived migrants, and individuals from underrepresented cultural and faith backgrounds, to ensure accessible, culturally sensitive outreach.
4. Health & Wellbeing Outreach
Community Champions also provided peer-led support to vulnerable individuals, including women from South Asian and African heritage communities, older men living alone, and individuals affected by mental

health challenges. Support was framed around trust, community understanding, and culturally appropriate communication.
5. Community Trips & Excursions
We delivered a variety of trips and excursions, attended by 500+ individuals, promoting social inclusion, emotional wellbeing, and physical activity. These outings were especially beneficial for individuals from lowincome households and minority ethnic backgrounds, many of whom face barriers to participation in wider community life and unable to go anywhere in holidays due to facing challenging lifestyles
6. Food Support Initiatives
Our Community Food Pantry and weekly food support programme played a key role in addressing food insecurity. This included culturally relevant food provision for Muslim, African, and South Asian families, ensuring dignity and respect for religious dietary needs.
7. Warm Spaces and Cost of Living Support
In response to the cost of living crisis, we provided Warm Spaces to allow residents—particularly the elderly, disabled, or those in inadequate housing—to access a safe, welcoming environment, while also receiving advice and support
8. Sport & Physical Activity
We have continued to grow our commitment to sport and physical activity as a means to promote holistic wellbeing, reduce health inequalities, and provide inclusive opportunities for all.
Key outcomes:
• Weekly sport and fitness sessions were offered to children, young people, and adults, helping to develop confidence, physical health, and social skills.
- Within our youth programme, sport was used as a tool for positive engagement, especially for young people from Black, Asian, and Minority

Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds who may face exclusion from mainstream leisure services.
• Community events, walking groups, and family sport days included culturally appropriate activities and took into account religious practices, such as gender-sensitive sessions and scheduling around key faith dates.
• Physical activity was used in tandem with health education to support preventative healthcare, particularly for communities at higher risk of conditions such as diabetes and hypertension. • Our inclusive sports initiatives were specifically designed to support women from Muslim backgrounds, older people from African and Caribbean communities, and individuals with long-term health conditions. These activities have played a vital role in fostering inclusion, breaking down social isolation, and encouraging long-term healthy lifestyle changes, especially for individuals who historically have not accessed such services. Progress Towards Yearly Objectives In line with our 2024 strategy, the 20:20 Foundation Trust has made clear and measurable progress in the following areas: • Health and Wellbeing: We expanded health-based outreach to communities with higher health inequalities, including culturally tailored interventions. • Community Development & Involvement: We trained local residents as champions and leaders, particularly from underrepresented and faithbased communities, to co-produce and co-deliver local initiatives. • Community Engagement: We deepened our engagement with those who face multiple barriers, including refugees, asylum seekers, people from BAME backgrounds, and faith-led community groups. • Education and Training: Through our Champions programme and youth work, we provided vital training opportunities that enhance employability and civic participation. Section E Financial review
The charity reserve policy is to be used when income is limited and Brief statement of the unexpected costs increase of services, goods, cost of living and up keep. charity’s policy on reserves This will consist of funds to support projects for 12 months and unexpected arising upkeep costs. The reserve policy is to be reviewed yearly in line of the charity’s annual accounts and return.

Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
