Bright Shedders Men's Shed - AGM 22/05/2024 •<hoirman'S Report Good evenirg and welcome to the second AGM of Bright Shedders. Thank you all for comin9 tonight. ifs good to see so many here. Firstly an introduction to the Trustees:_ Our first year ended disappointin9ly with our previously acc4table structure f ailiw to me¢t new criteria imposed by buildiry control. This resulted in a search for a Structural Ergineer to evaluate and redesign the plons t*here needed. Whilst looki￿ for someone we began dismantlin9 the f loor and walls. removiThJ the pallets that we were inltially intendin9 to use. This was an emotional and frustratiThJ task as we were unable to get any feedback f rom Building Control. Fortunately for us we found a Structural Ewineer who helped us. free of charge. Thank you Oliver Mor9an for your help and patience. His structural drawings and calculotions, olon9 With our own drawings and plans. were submitted to Tendrirg BuildiNJ Control and af ter a lot of toing and f roing, permission to restart was granted. approximately 12 months f rom our f irst be9innin9. The main stnjcture is now complete and the inte9rity and quality of our work has been passed by 8uildiNJ Control and currently we are puttin9 on the roof elements. With 9t)od weather and manpower we are optimistic that we will have completed the buildirg by late summer and can begin fitting out the shed and offering Membership to adult men in our catchment area. The exact details have. as yet. rK)t been f inalised, but will follow closely the model adopted by other Men's sheds throighout the UL A list for names of potential members is available tonight. Our past and present progress is reliant on the generosity of individuals and local organisations and companies and also some commissions we have undertaken. Our thanks and appreciation goes to all who h(we contributed. We still require help with the build process. If anyone has a few hours to spare once or twice a we£k ? We would also be happy to accept donations of tools. building materials or money towards Immediate and future costs. Any donations of tools duplicated or unsuitable will be forwarded to other charitoble organisotions including Other Men's Sheds arKI Tools With A Mission, or occasionally they may be sold to provide much needed funds for us. We are also lookiThJ to add members to our board of Trustees. We are looking for people with secretarial and/or occountiw skills to lessen the load on those already caryin9 Out those roles. At this point I would like to thank Heler￿ Nwaokolo. a founder member, our minutes secretary, and also a powerful voice in our social conscience. who is Steppi￿ down from the Trustees for personal reasons.
