- (a) to provide tennis, social and other activities and generally to encourage, promote and facilitate the playing of tennis in Somer Valley and the surrounding community.
(b) to promote, improve, develop, and support the interests of tennis.

(c) to liaise with Dragonfly Leisure (Writhlington Trust) as required due to the shared nature of the courts used by the Club.

(d) to work with Dragonfly Leisure (Writhlington Trust) as the owners of the primary premises used by the Club.
(e) to ensure the Club is affiliated to the CLTA (and by doing so affiliated to the LTA) and to comply with and uphold the Rules and Regulations of the CLTA and the LTA as amended from time to time and the rules and regulations of anybody to which the LTA is affiliated.

In setting our objectives and planning our activities our Trustees have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission’s public benefit guidance. Public benefit is at the heart of everything we do. Our at Somer Valley Tennis is to provide anyone from any background and any ability with the affordable means to play tennis, at whatever level suits them and most importantly provide a safe and fun environment to play a great sport. Somer Valley Tennis Club is open to all and its aim is to make tennis accessible to all members of our community. We are committed to running our club in a fair and equitable way.

Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

1.We held an annual club champs event, an inclusive event for all members over 60% of the membership took part

We increased the court usage on our affiliated village venues by 30% 3.We increased our membership by 25% from 2021

We held a number of social events eg our Christmas event with 20 members attending 5.We introduced walking tennis in collaboration with Dragonfly Leisure 6.Awareness of tennis in the Somer Valley area was increased via press releases & social media

As a club we facilitated the use of the village courts for local charity Mentoring Plus, fur use by their mentors and mentees 8. We facilitated use of the village courts for youth service YMCA, weekly in the summer x 10 weeks. 9. We held a number of open days and outreach days, open to all people to ‘come and have a go’ x 3 events. 10 We had 15 teams - men/ladies/mixed teams for members to play competitively in local leagues over a 12 month period

Section E Financial review
The charity is not in a position to hold reserves – due to the nature of Brief statement of the memberships, we will continue to promote membership in order to ensure charity’s policy on reserves the viability of the tennis club. We don’t have paid members of staff and so have no reserves to cover this. Our charitable funding is in order to extend our tennis offer to our local community and ensure that tennis is accessible to all.
