Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the
charity, identifying the
difference the charity’s
work has made to the
circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any
wider benefits to society
as a whole.
Para 1.20 The charity expended £2517.71 to
further its objective of providing respite
sailing for families and carers affected
by suicide and the poor mental health
of siblings.
Our work in the Channel Islands, in
addition to furthering our purpose, has
been enabled by the founder, Tim
Davies and his company AVRO
Yachting which has borne the lion’s
share of the costs associated with this
activity.

Additional information (optional) You may choose to include further statements where relevant about:

Achievements against
objectives set
Para 1.41 We have been unable to conduct
planned escape days with families in
the UK; or take part in Round The
Island Race largely owing to the ill
health of the founder. However, we
continued our presence in the Channel
Islands working with the Lieutenant
Governor of the Bailiwick, Lieutenant
General Richard Cripwell CB, CBE.
In addition, AVRO Yachting Ltd
conducted a single corporate event
which further raised the awareness of
mental health issues and a small sum
of money for Sail2Help (£273.95).
The event also enabled far greater
financial support of two other charities:
The NOT FORGOTTEN; & The
Submarine Family.
Performance of
fundraising activities
against objectives set
Para 1.41 Owing to the founder’s ill-health we
were unable to raise a great deal of
money ourselves so our ability to
donate monies to others was restricted.
Although £1435.20 was raised via the
website and donated via CAF.
Investment performance
against objectives

end of the period

remained a closing balance of
£1,359.93
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 The charity has no staff or related costs.
Its main costs relate to the respite
sailing days. The number of such days
that the charity will provide in the future
will be determined by the income of the
charity for the relevant year.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 The charity reserves consist of the cash
funds held and value of charity assets
less the liabilities at the year-end of
which there are none outstanding.
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22 The charity currently has no fixed costs
(other than bank charges) and it will
adjust its activities (including its grant
making activities) as
necessary/appropriate in the light of its
actual/projected income. The trustees
have read and understood the Charity
Commission’s guidance on reserves.
Details of fund materially
in deficit
Para 1.24
Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a
going concern
Para 1.23 Although the founder, who is now
happily back on his feet, he as the
principal fund raiser and focal point for
respite sailing is evidently key to the
charities ongoing activities.

Additional information (optional) You may choose to include further statements where relevant about:

The charity’s principal
sources of funds
(including any
fundraising)
Para 1.47 The SuperYacht Charities, Sail2Help’s
