Activities

We provide information, advice and advocacy support to people from ethnic minority and/or migrant backgrounds on a range of issues, including welfare benefits and housing. We work with people from over 40 different nationalities. We host community lunches that bring together service users, staff, volunteers and representatives from other service providers.

Objects: 2.1 The Charity’s Objects Are Restricted Specifically, Only For The Public Benefit, To:2.1.1 The Relief Of Financial Hardship Of People Living In The East Of England Including (without Limitation) Those From Ethnic Minority Backgrounds And/or Migrant Backgrounds By, For Example (but Without Limitation), The Provision Of Free Advice, Advocacy, Education And/or Training In The English Language And/or In Vocational Skills And/or By Providing Facilities And/or Events And/or Other Forms Of Assistance To Such Persons To Relieve The Needs Of Such People;2.1.2 The Promotion Of Social Inclusion By Preventing People Living In The East Of England Including (without Limitation) Those From Ethnic Minority Backgrounds And/or Migrant Backgrounds From Becoming Socially Excluded, Relieving The Needs Of Those People Living In The East Of England Including (without Limitation) Those From Ethnic Minority Backgrounds And/or Migrant Backgrounds Who Are Socially Excluded And Assisting Them To Integrate Into Society By, For Example (but Without Limitation), The Provision Of Free Advice, Advocacy, Education And/or Training In The English Language And/or In Vocational Skills And/or By Providing Facilities And/or Events And/or Other Forms Of Assistance To Such Persons;2.1.3 The Promotion Of Equality And Diversity In Particular, But Not Exclusively, By:2.1.3.1 Advancing Education And Raising Awareness In Equality And Diversity;2.1.3.2 Promoting Activities To Foster Understanding Between People From Diverse Backgrounds;2.1.3.3 Conducting Or Commissioning Research On Equality And Diversity Issues And Publishing The Results To The Public;2.1.3.4 Cultivating A Sentiment In Favour Of Equality And Diversity;2.1.4 The Promotion Of Racial Harmony In Particular, But Not Exclusively, By:2.1.4.1 Promoting Knowledge And Mutual Understanding Between Different Racial Groups;2.1.4.2 Advancing Education And Raising Awareness About Different Racial Groups To Promote Good Relations Between Persons Of Different Racial Groups;2.1.4.3 Working Towards The Elimination Of Discrimination On The Grounds Of Race;2.1.5 The Development Of The Capacity And Skills Of Those People From Ethnic Minority And/or Migrant Backgrounds Living In The East Of England Who Are Socially And/or Economically Disadvantaged In Such A Way That They Are Better Able To Identify, And Help Meet, Their Needs And To Participate More Fully In Society.2.2 For The Purposes Of Clause 2.1:2.2.1 ‘socially Excluded’ Means People Who Are Excluded From Society, Or Parts Of Society, As A Result Of One Or More Of The Following Factors: Ethnic Origin, Race, Gender, Religion, Belief, Creed, Unemployment, Financial Hardship, Poor Educational, Language And/or Skills Attainment, Disability, And/or Who Are Within, Or Have Experienced, The Public Care Or Penal System; And2.2.2 ‘east Of England’ Means Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire And/or Northamptonshire.
