Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The charity has supported dozens of
families this year, by mainly arranging the
foster care of their pets. In nearly all cases
those animals are reunited with their
owners once they have secured their own
safety. On occasion, the charity has
supported those who cannot be separated
from their pets by offering advice, support
and signposting, or by assisting them to
reach safety.
By doing this work, those survivors of
domestic abuse have been able to seek
safety and escape their abuse. Had we not
supported them, those people may have
stayed with or returned to their situations of
abuse.
We have provided certainty to our service
users, and reassurance that their pets are
safe, such that they have not had their
situations worsened by the stress of their
animals being unsafe.
Additional information (optional)
You may choose to include further statements
where relevant about:
Achievements against
objectives set
Para 1.41 Our objectives included an aim to spread
awareness of the existence of the charity.
We have managed to do this with a
newspaper and social media campaign, as
well as a poster and leaflet campaign.
Performance of fundraising
activities against objectives
set
Para 1.41 We have partaken in multiple public events
to raise awareness and funds, have
developed a range of items to assist in
fundraising, and applied for and
successfully received a grant of a
significant sum of money.
Investment performance
against objectives
Para 1.41 Not applicable.

Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 The charity closed with almost £4000 cash
reserves in the account, with a grant
payment shortly to be received in the sum
of £6667
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 The charity maintains reserves for live
cases to ensure that standard costs can be
covered for a maximum case length of six
months. Charity administration costs are
covered by an external source of funding
where necessary. Some veterinary
treatment is included in the reserve funds,
but an insurance policy is held, and an
agreement with owners that veterinary care
may have to be covered by the owner in
certain circumstances.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 £3200
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22 N/a
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24 N/a
Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern
Para 1.23 There are no concerns. All live cases have
sufficient funding. As a small charity we
have been able to keep costs at a
minimum.

Additional information (optional)

You may choose to include further statements where relevant about:

The charity’s principal
sources of funds (including
any fundraising)
Para 1.47 By far our largest contributor was the
Kennel Club Charitable Trust, The Chelsea
and Mr French Fund. Smaller donations
and outreach event work should not be
underestimated, however. A small amount
is made through the sale of merchandise
also.
Investment policy and
objectives including any
social investment policy
adopted
Para 1.46 N/a
A description of the principal
risks facing the charity
Para 1.46 The most significant risk is a lack of further
funding in the future. The trustees have
compiled a fundraising strategy document
listing sources of funding, with an extensive
list of potential funding sources all of which
will be contacted during the next financial
period. We will also be recruiting new
trustees, with a prerequisite of fundraising
experience.
