Friends of Bangor Garth Pier Trustees Annual Report For the period from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025 Chairfs Introduction As Chair of Friends of Bangor Garth Pier, l am delighted to introduce our third Trustees Annual Report. As reported below. our charity continues to go from strength to strength. Our visitor numbers continue to increase as we welcomed well over 125,000 visitors from all comers of the globe, as well as our loyal local residents who really love their pier which remains a comerstone of our community. Our efforts this year have enabled us to raise the funds to undertake repairs to the pier's wooden kiosks, enabling their continued use as attractive and popular businesses serving the public. We are also proud to have held a number of events during the year including celebrating the pier's birthday and also St David's Day and Fireworks Night. Avrfl Wayte. Purposes of the charty as set out in its goveming document Our purposes are to support the protection, preservation, restoration and improvement of Bangor Garth Pier, for the public benefit. To advance the education of the public in understanding the history. heritage of this Victorian structure and its location on the Menai Strait. 2. Main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular. the activities, projects or seNices identified in the accounts. Our charty was established in March 2022 and Ihis report represents fourth Annual Report. The activities, projects and servi￿$ Klentified in our accounts are as follows.. Running a gift shop in one of the pierfs kiosks, staffed entirely by our volunteers with the aim of producing profrts to be used to contribLrte towards the physical restoration of the pier. Providing the welcoming presen￿ at the pierfs entrance kiosk, run in entirely by volunteers. Organising and holding events e.g. Pier 1281h Birthday Festival. St David's Day event, Lighting up of the pier for Christmas & Christmas COn￿rt, Christmas Santa's Grotto. IV. Other Fundraising activiiies including Sponsor a I￿ht for Christmas and applying for grants and sponsorship from k)cal businesses or organisalions to support specific events or activities. Donations

Any profits that we make help to fund specffic projects on the pier to protect, preserve, restore or improve its facilities or to advan￿ the education of the public in understanding the history, heritage and location of Bangor Garth Pier. 3. Public benefft The actions carried out by our charty are decided upon and agreed in order to ensure that they fulfil our purposes, including the provision of identifiable benefrts to the general public who visit the pier. This includes a welcoming presence at the entrance kiosk to the pier and the opportunty to visit our gift shop, both of which are manned by our body of volunteers. By enabling members of the local community to become volunteers of the charty, and undertake duties on the pier, we a￿ fulfilling a very important benefrt to individuals to both contribute to their local communty and to join a community of volunteers giving them a sense of purpose and contributing to their well-being. 4. Contribution made by volunteers Volunteers make a very significant contribution to our ability to undertake all our activities. Our volunteer coordinator coordinates the activities of two groups of volunteers (60 in total) who are responsible for operating both the gift shop and the entran￿ kiosk. The presence of our volunteers at the entran￿ kiosk, on a daily basis, has resulted in a very significant increase in income from entrance fees, which contribute towards the annual costs of routine pier Maintenan￿ and upkeep. The volunteers also play an irnportant role in enabling us to fun our programme of events on the pier. Having the ability to participate in pier lrfe as a volunteer is a sunificant part of the public benefrt to the local communty enabled by our charity. Achlevements and Perforniance 1. Main achievements of the charity, identrfying the drfferen￿ the charity's work has made to the circumstsnces of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. The main achievements of the charity for the year are.. The increase in visitor numbers and revenue. Visitor numbers from 114124 to 3113125 have increased to 125, 228 and revenue from the entran￿ fee is passed directly to Bangor City Council who own the pier. A very successful event programme which has helped lo increase our visitor numbers and to raise the profile of the pier (see section 2 for more details). Improvements to the pier including the funding the construction of the second look-out kiosk at the pierhead and repair wod(s to the other kiosks along the length of the pier.

Achievements against objectives set One of our main objectives is to continue to make the pier as an attractive destination for both the local community and tourists and to increase the overall number of visitors to the pier. with a year-round calendar of events, including.. St David's day Event (March) 128th Pier Anniversary Festival celebrations (May) Hallowe'en event (October) November 51h Fireworks on the Pier (November) Lighting up the pier for the Christmas period, Christmas concert and fireworks (November) Light Festival including Sponsor a Light for Christmas (OctoberlNoVemberlDe￿mber) Christmas Santa's grotto (Decernber) Allowing other local groups to use the pier for events also helped to raise awareness of the pier, benefit the local communty and attract more visrtors. These have included.. Bangor Half Marathon Awyr Las (NHS Charity) sponsored swim from the pier Sponsored walks on the pier (various local charities) Students from Ocean Sciences Dept at Bangor Universty annual crabbing event for Freshers Week Attending local events for profile raising for FBGP and the pier have included: Bangor University Freshers fair Mynydd Christmas Fair The Friends of Bangor Garth Pier gift shop plays a significant part in the improvement of Bangor Garth Pier as it has maintained a reputation for the sale of quality goods. created by local artists, and a place where they can display and sell their wares. We continue to use our online presence including the website and social media to raise the profile of the pier locally, nationally and intemationally. Monthly meetings with Bangor Cty Council have been continuing and help to strengthen the good working relationship between them as owners of the pier and FBGP. Financial Review

Structure, Govarnance and Management 1. Governing document and constitution Friends of Bangor Garth Pierfs governing document is a Constitution and is registered with the Charity Commission as a Charitsble Incorporated Organisation CIO (Foundation). 2. Organisational structure and selection of new Trustees We have no constitutional provisions. The Trustees are selected from the local community and are elected for a tem) of 3 years, renewable for a maximum of 3 terms. Vacancies for new trustees are identrfEd by Ihe Board tsking into consideration the balance of skills required. Candidates are invrted to attend a Board meeting to discuss the role. As set down in our constitution, we have a maximum number of 12 trustees, some of whom also hold specific roles within the charity. The Board is led by the Chair with other officers including a Treasurer. Secretary and Vice-chair. Officers are appointed by the Trustees. All trustees undertake their roles for Friends of Bangor Garth Pier in voluntary capacity. 3.
