Trustees Annual Report
For the period from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025
Chairfs Introduction
As Chair of Friends of Bangor Garth Pier, l am delighted to introduce our third
Trustees Annual Report. As reported below. our charity continues to go from
strength to strength. Our visitor numbers continue to increase as we welcomed well
over 125,000 visitors from all comers of the globe, as well as our loyal local residents
who really love their pier which remains a comerstone of our community. Our efforts
this year have enabled us to raise the funds to undertake repairs to the pier's
wooden kiosks, enabling their continued use as attractive and popular businesses
serving the public. We are also proud to have held a number of events during the
year including celebrating the pier's birthday and also St David's Day and Fireworks
Night.

To advance the education of the public in understanding the history. heritage of this
Victorian structure and its location on the Menai Strait.

the activities, projects or seNices identified in the accounts.
Our charty was established in March 2022 and Ihis report represents fourth Annual
Report.
The activities, projects and servi￿$ Klentified in our accounts are as follows..
Running a gift shop in one of the pierfs kiosks, staffed entirely by our
volunteers with the aim of producing profrts to be used to contribLrte towards
the physical restoration of the pier.
Providing the welcoming presen￿ at the pierfs entrance kiosk, run in entirely
by volunteers.

Donations

Any profits that we make help to fund specffic projects on the pier to protect,
preserve, restore or improve its facilities or to advan￿ the education of the public in
understanding the history, heritage and location of Bangor Garth Pier.
3. Public benefft
The actions carried out by our charty are decided upon and agreed in order to
ensure that they fulfil our purposes, including the provision of identifiable benefrts to
the general public who visit the pier. This includes a welcoming presence at the
entrance kiosk to the pier and the opportunty to visit our gift shop, both of which are
manned by our body of volunteers.
By enabling members of the local community to become volunteers of the charty,
and undertake duties on the pier, we a￿ fulfilling a very important benefrt to
individuals to both contribute to their local communty and to join a community of
volunteers giving them a sense of purpose and contributing to their well-being.
4. Contribution made by volunteers
Volunteers make a very significant contribution to our ability to undertake all our
activities. Our volunteer coordinator coordinates the activities of two groups of
volunteers (60 in total) who are responsible for operating both the gift shop and the
entran￿ kiosk.
The presence of our volunteers at the entran￿ kiosk, on a daily basis, has resulted
in a very significant increase in income from entrance fees, which contribute towards
the annual costs of routine pier Maintenan￿ and upkeep.
The volunteers also play an irnportant role in enabling us to fun our programme of
events on the pier.
Having the ability to participate in pier lrfe as a volunteer is a sunificant part of the
public benefrt to the local communty enabled by our charity.
