Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 This report covers our first year as a
charity.
Prior to becoming a charity, we were a
community group known as Heartstart East
Hertfordshire and were affiliated to the
British Heart Foundation from 2017-2021.
In June 2021, the British Heart Foundation
gave all groups 28 days notice that they
would no longer support any group.
Our charity was formed to continue the
public benefit of learning lifesaving skills as
well as to fundraise for public access
defibrillators and bleed control kits to be
installed across Hertfordshire for the
benefit of all 24/7.
Our key achievements during this time
frame was the development of governance
processes, opening a bank account (took 9
months), working with Hertfordshire
Community Foundation to establish the
foundations of the charity, securing an
initial small grant to purchase training
equipment and receiving a small number of
donations to enable the charity to financial
meet it’s costs and be financially
sustainable.
We were also able to create a website.
We were able to deliver training to the
community and start to deliver our
message of the purpose for Hearts for
Herts to a wider audience.
Our training has enabled the wider
beneficiaries to learn lifesaving skills which
can buy valuable time until an ambulance
can arrive, as well as how to identity their
nearest defibrillator.

Financial Review

Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 As this was our first year, our income was
small but sufficent to enable us to start the
charity and purchase training equipment.
We had sufficent funds to take over into the
next financial year and enable us to
continue to build on our progress.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 The charity does not have a reserves policy
due to being a new charity and having a
small income.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24 There was no deficit.
Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern
Para 1.23 N/A
