Trustees’ Annual Report for the period

From: 01/02/2022 Period start date To: 05/04/2023 Period end date

Charity name: Prevent ALL

Charity registration number: 1197613

Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 Prevent ALL has two main
objectives:
1) For the public benefit to relieve
the needs of children, and their
families, in England who have been
diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic
Leukaemia and/or other blood
cancers, in particular but not
exclusively by providing items and
grants of financial assistance for
those who are undergoing treatment;
2) The advancement of health for the
public benefit through the provision
of funding to support research into
Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and
other blood cancers, the useful
results of which will be disseminated
for the public benefit.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
During our first year, Prevent ALL
was focused on fund raising
activities and promotion of our
objectives. These included
community events, sponsored
activities and local media promotion.
We have also established a
relationship with the Institute of
Cancer Research, who’s research
into prevention of Acute
Lymphoblastic Leukaemia we are
aiming to support in the future.
We provide our first support to
families and children undergoing
treatment at the Princess Royal
Hospital in Telford.

2

Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 The Trustees confirm that they have
referred to the guidance contained in the
Charity Commission’s general guidance
on public benefit when reviewing the
Trust’s aims, objectives and future
planning.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 During our first year, Prevent ALL was
focused on initial fund-raising activities
and promotion of our objectives. These
included building a website and social
media pages, engaging with local
media.
Our initial efforts on fundraising
included community events, sponsored
activities and local media promotion.
The local community were key to
supporting our efforts.
We have also established a relationship
with the Institute of Cancer Research,
who’s research into prevention of Acute
Lymphoblastic Leukaemia we are
aiming to support in the future. Our
website has been built and explains this
research and why this would benefit
children in the future. We have met with
the ICR to better understand the
research and how we can help.
We provide our first support to families
and children undergoing treatment at
the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.
We are aiming to expand these efforts in
the future.

Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 We generated £20,995 of income from
fundraising activities. Spent a total of
£12,215 on operating expenses and our
first grants. A balance at the end of the
year of £8,780.
The Trustees decided to retain these
funds at year end to cover expected
operating costs and to fund and upfront
cost for future events.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 Our policy for reserves aims to
ensure that on a prudent basis the
Trustees have sufficient reserves to

3

continue operations. In setting the
reserves we consider the following
reasons:
a) The risk of an unforeseen
emergency or other unexpected
need for funds, eg an unexpected
large bill or finding ‘seed-funding’ for
an urgent project
b) Covering unforeseen day-to-day
operational costs, eg employing
temporary staff
c) A source of income, eg a grant,
not being renewed. Funds might be
needed to give the trustees time to
take action if income falls below
expectations
d) Planned commitments, or
designations, that cannot be met by
future income alone, eg plans for a
major asset purchase or to a
significant project that requires the
charity to provide ‘matched funding’
e) The need to fund short-term
deficits in a cash budget, eg money
may need to be spent before a
funding grant is received.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 £8,780
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22 N/A
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24 At year end reserves were marginally
below our target level. However,
excellent progress had been made from
our initial starting point of zero. We
planned to reach our target in the next
year.
Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern
Para 1.23 None
