SORP reference

achievements of the charity,

charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 -
The orchestra provides an opportunity
for nearly 100 musicians to benefit from
making music together, and has put on
5 public concerts, reaching over 1600
members of the public.
-
The orchestra put on a free concert for
children and their families, with a range
of music. The concert was advertised in
schools in disadvantaged areas, and
offered children the opportunity to
conduct an orchestra, meet musicians
and have a go playing different
instruments. 300 people attended this
concert.
-
The orchestra took part in a community
festival, performing music in a local
park, and accompanying a children’s
chorus for their performance.
-
For each term, the charity has
continued to sponsor musicians who
would not otherwise have been able to
afford to play in the orchestra, including
a sponsored double bass role.
-
Our concerts have broadened the
scope of music available to the public,

including music by female composers which have been only rarely performed. The orchestra has commissioned a new work by a young composer, to be premiered in the next season. - Raffles held as part of our concerts have raised £400 for charities.
