#3 2025: A Look Ahead

SANATAN HINDU CULTURAL SOCIETY, SUTTON

11

10 Jan 2026

3.1 An initial sketch of the vision

This initial sketch of the vision reflects a period of careful reflection and renewed direction for SHCS. Over recent months, the newly appointed trustees have invested time in understanding the charity’s purpose, governance, and operational foundations, while working closely with existing members to determine the most effective way forward. While they still continue to do that below are the current initial sketch of the vision.

• In the short to medium term, and subject to financial viability, a leased premises is being . considered, with the long-term goal of establishing a permanent Mandir • Determine a financially sustainable model and donor base who are willing to champion the Sanatan cause.

These three pillars will need to be carved out in practical and realistic terms with the help of working committee, other supportive community groups and Hindu community at large.

OFFICIAL

Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of Sanatan Hindu Cultural Society (Charity N o. 1197115)

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Sanatan Hindu Cultural Society (the Trust) for the year ended 31 March 2025.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner’s statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or

  2. the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

An amount of £5,000 received in the previous year as a repayment of investment principal had been incorrectly recorded as donation income . This resulted in an overstatement of both donation income and investment

balances in the prior year. The correction has been presented as an adjustment in the current year’s Receipts & Payments Account .

b) Duplication of Event Receipts (£1,908)

Event income of £1,908 was recorded twice in the previous year—once as cash and once as bank—leading to an overstatement of cash and bank balances and event income. The duplicated amount has been adjusted in the current year’s Receipts & Payments Account.
