Hayling Voluntsry Services (Reglstered CIO No: 1197042) Page 3 Trustee Annual Report 30th April 2024 Achievements and Perfomiance HVS is the only indeFendent charity on Hayling Island, our work has always been with the elderly and vulnerable in the lo(21 communrty and we have been supporting them for over 40 years. The shop continues to do well. thanks to our wonderful volunteers and generous support from the island's residents. Our Seniors, Club is situated opposite the shop and provides group aclivities, lunches, and breakfasts for veterans. We felt there was a need for our services to be available to the wider community, and the Seniors, Club evolved into the Haven Cafe later in the year. This now hosts live entertainment, a crochet group, IT lessons and provides a wal¢oming pla with good food, for Hayling residents and visrtor8. The befriending rVICe and our dog walknng SeN1 have begun. as has our meals at home service. Our community car seNice transporting residents to medical appointrnents continues to b8 the backbone of our work. with volunteer drivers tsking them to hospitals, GPS, and denti6ts etc. Unfortunately, the two Irustees suddenly resigned in March without any handover procedure, leaving the incoming trustees unable to a(%ess the majority of HVS records, bank accounts etc. This made bt extremely difficult for them to produce the infomation required by the Charity Commission, and in addth'on, HVS funds had been reduced by o large dorsations by the departin9 trustees.
