Section C Ob"ectives and activities
Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document
The aim of the Association is to advance the education of preschool children in Y Felinheli through the medium of the Welsh language. This is done by: a) providing and presenting safe and satisfying play and activities b) arranging other charitable activities in order to help parents support their children, and c) promoting the aims of Mudiad Ysgol Meithrin and presenting them to parents/guardians; encouraging them to send their children on to Welsh medium education
Cylch Meithrin
- The Cylch follows the "Foundation Phase" which is to provide a rounded approach to education of young children indoors and outdoors. Here are the 7 key areas which we follow: ~ Language, Literacy and Communication ~ Mathematics development ~ Personal and Social developments ~ Creative developments ~ Knowledge and understanding of the world ~ Physical development ~ welsh Language Development
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
The leader plans and arranges the lessons to give the children opportunities to explore the world around them and understand how things work by taking part in practical activities such as stories, games, songs, imaginative play and participating in celebrations. Our sessions are open to children from the age of 2 to preschool age. We have the assistance of a supporting education officer from the local authority.
Meithrin Mwy
We offer a care service for the children who attend the school's nursery class in the morning. The children can stay a further two hours 15 minutes from 10.45am to 1.00pm to socialize and learn. Our ethos is centred on the 'Foundation Phase' where Ianguage development is nurtured by playing games, reading stories, learning rhymes and songs. In the child's pre-school year we aim to provide a fuller nursery education to develop the necessary skills to start reading, writing and develop number recognition.
Wrap Around
A Wrap Around Service is offered to parents of Children that attend the Meithrin Class at the School. The Wrap Around Service provides high quality childcare from 10:45am- 3:30pm. Wrap Around spaces are limited to 5 spaces to ensure that the Cylch provide adequate spaces for the Cylch Meithrin.
Clwb Gofal
In September 2022, we started an after school Clwb for up to 19 children after significant demand from parents. This runs for 2 hours from 3.30pm to 5.30pm on Mondays through Thursdays during term times when the Cylch is open3 March 2012

Section D
Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity
Increasing number of children attending during the year Cylch Meithrin sessions:
To ensure the future viability of the Charity the Committee recognised that we needed to increase the Children numbers attending sessions increased throughout the year. The Committee have also decided to expand the provision available for parents and offer limited spaces for "wrap around care" thus filling a gap in the local community for full day care sessions. Children attending the Nursery Class at the Primary School are now able to attend the Cylch Meithrin from 10.45am until 3:30pm. We have registered as full day provider with CIW. This fulfils a number of objectives such as responding to parents' feedback on the need for "wrap around care"; should increase the numbers of children attending the Cylch Meithrin and Meithrin Mwy sessions. To achieve this, we promoted the provision via social media, held a registration day during August so that parents were able to register their child at the Cylch Meithrin for the next academic year.
This fulfils a number of objectives such as responding to parents' feedback on the need for "wrap around care"; should increase the numbers of children attending Cylch Meithrin sessions and will also bring in an additional funding source that will assist the charity in being more financially viable long-term.
Fundraising target:
As a Committee, we set a an annual fundraising target to achieve during the financial period.
The income will be invested back into the charity to develop the outside play areas for the children, further enhancing the learning opportunities and experienced of the pre-school age children who attend the Cylch Meithrin. The outside play area will also be shared with the Primary School so as to further the benefit of the new resource.
Welsh Language:
We have achieved our aims to promote the Welsh Ianguage by providing a valuable Welsh medium service to users. Some of the children who attend our sessions come from non welsh speaking families. They are introduced and encouraged to speak the language which the transition to a welsh speaking school easier for them.
6
Parent and Children customer satisfaction:
We take great care to ensure that we consult our users and benefactors and gather feedback for the service. An annual Quality of Care report is produced whereby Parents and Children are asked their views on the provision. Please find below some of the comments received from parents:
“The Cylch allows the children to play and learn in the medium of Welsh and create new friendships” Parent
“My daughter has made so much progress since school and the Cylch sessions. She’s always singing the songs that she’s learnt and seems very confident. Also we have the social media posts” Parent
“Caring, nurturing environment where my son can play and learn together with other children. He loves Cylch” Parent
“Nice to see pictures on FB of activities done – seems like a lot of activities are completed in the short time of a Cylch session. My child is happy to go there” Parent
