Achievements and Performance

SORP reference

achievements of the charity,

charity’s work has made to

benefits to society as a

Para 1.20 2024 was a successful year for the Trust. In
the summer we supported 3 aspiring
journalists through the Guardian and
Observer Newspaper Positive Action work
placement scheme.
In November the trust awarded its annual
journalism prize to Jacklin Kwan for her
article in the British Medical Journal
exposing the practices of some biobanks in
deceiving expectant parents about the
value of banking their children’s umbilical
cord blood by using misleading statements
to market the procedure.
And then finally in December we held our
annual lecture and we were extremely
fortunate to have Lady Hale, Baroness of
Richmond, as our main speaker. Her
lecture, "Press freedom and personal
privacy – a clash of rights?” was full of
wonderful insights across her career and
enjoyed by many on and offline attendees.
