Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

The temple has helped in times of need. For example, after the 2 major floods in Nachikuda, Sri Lanka, the charity helped supply dry rations and helped rebuild the houses in the village. We gave emotional support to those affected by the flood. We collected and sent 4 large packages by sea containing children's educational toys, books and recycled clothes. We also funded uniforms for children who cannot afford to buy these. We help to run an after school classes between 3.30pm and 6 pm in a remote village in Vanni. At least two pupils have entered the University from this class. There is impressive improvement in OL results as well. The school also includes 6 children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) who are educated in the school.

The charity held a successful charity fundraiser event to bring together the community. We provided the community with meals and celebrated the Tamil New Year.

Friday poojas are held weekly where the Priest attends and performs poojas. The temple is open everyday for self prayer and we have seen an increase in devotees attending the temple. Every Thursdays we have devotees attending to conduct pooja for Shridy Baba.

The temple holds special poojas for special hindu festivals such as Diwali, Thai Pongal, Narathri. It also conducts poojas for devotees on special days and events such as car pooja.
