Para 1.20 In difficult economic times with many financial pressures
upon individuals and families, and against a backdrop of
limited financial resources available from governmental
departments, Sketty Foodbank has provided vital support to
those in urgent need.
In addition to emergency food we have provided toiletries
and household items and endeavoured to maintain the
dignity of those who call upon our services.
We have engaged with a number of support agencies
including health visitors, social workers, probation officers
and schools.
We have worked particularly closely with Swansea Asylum
Seeker Services, Unity in Diversity and local Councillors in
supporting refugees and asylum seekers.
When the Foodbank was initially set up, approximately 60
referrals per month were being handled. At the end of this
reporting period, there were nearly 400 made, with little
evidence of a drop in numbers anticipated.
