Para 1.20 In difficult economic times with many
financial pressures upon individuals and
families, and against a backdrop of limited
financial resources available from
governmental departments, Sketty
Foodbank has provided vital support to
those in urgent need.
In addition to emergency food we have
provided toiletries and household items and
endeavoured to maintain the dignity of
those who call upon our services.
We have engaged with a number of
support agencies including health visitors,
social workers, probation officers and
schools.
We have worked particularly closely with
Swansea Asylum Seeker Services, Unity
and Diversity and local Councillors in
supporting refugees and asylum seekers.
When the Foodbank was initially set up,
approximately 60 referrals per month were
being handled. At the end of this reporting
period, there were approximately 150
made, with little evidence of a drop in
numbers anticipated.
