| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | In difficult economic times with many financial pressures upon individuals and families, and against a backdrop of limited financial resources available from governmental departments, Sketty Foodbank has provided vital support to those in urgent need. In addition to emergency food we have provided toiletries and household items and endeavoured to maintain the dignity of those who call upon our services. We have engaged with a number of support agencies including health visitors, social workers, probation officers and schools. We have worked particularly closely with Swansea Asylum Seeker Services, Unity and Diversity and local Councillors in supporting refugees and asylum seekers. When the Foodbank was initially set up, approximately 60 referrals per month were being handled. At the end of this reporting period, there were approximately 150 made, with little evidence of a drop in numbers anticipated. |
