The Deer Shack
The Deer Shack trailer has made a real impact on the pupils since opening 18[th] June 2024. It was noted how motivated the pupils were to work in the Deer Shack and how the experience was promoting independence and improving confidence.
Hair nets to be purchased for some of the pupils to wear whilst working behind the counter.
RD: Asked if JS/MM could help the pupils carry out a weekly stock check of stock held on the trailer.
JS: Reported that the enterprise was averaging £500 a week in takings.
RD: Reported that due to staff shortages the Deer Shack was unable to open 1 & 2 July.
It was agreed that every effort must be made to keep the Deer Shack open during the school day to build up trade and establish a regular customer base. A short discussion took place about using the UKSPF grant to cover wages, but nothing was finalised as it was deemed to soon to make any decisions around this.
JS: Ran through the list of jobs outstanding in the Deer Shack – most outstanding works had been completed. Any remaining tasks were allocated against a member of staff.
A discussion took place around the opening of the Deer Shack during the 6wks holidays. It was agreed that efforts would be made to open the trailer every Friday during the 6wks holiday. It was agreed that the trailer would be pulled to the pool as toilets would be available without the need for opening the school. The trailer would be in-situ during the day and then pulled back to the main school for safe storage.
