SORP accounting principles have been applied to the calculations of income and expenditure shown in the annual report.

Although the charity does not participate as a part of a wider network, the charity has received funds from ‘Fill your boots’ for the help of specific individuals. These are disclosed in the annual accounts. We have also worked with the RBL and SSAFA.

THEIR FAMILIES AND DEPENDENTS WHO RESIDE IN SOUTHAMPTON OR THE SURROUNDING AREA AND WHO ARE IN CHARITABLE NEED INCLUDING THOSE WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM MENTAL OR PHYSICAL ILLNESS OF ANY DESCRIPTION OR ARE IN NEED OF REHABILITATION AS A RESULT OF SUCH ILLNESS, WHO ARE EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTIES ADJUSTING TO POST SERVICE CIVILIAN LIFE, ARE EXPERIENCING HARDSHIP, UNEMPLOYMENT OR HOMELESSNESS BY: A) PROVIDING A SINGLE POINT OF CONTACT TO ASSIST IN THE PROVISION OF PHYSICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, PRACTICAL SUPPORT, ADVICE AND ENCOURAGEMENT TO RELIEVE A VETERAN’S DISTRESS, ILLNESS OR HARDSHIP. The centre benefits hugely from the participation of volunteers, particularly in the spirit of ‘Veterans helping veterans’.

In addition both the trust and the Drop in centre benefit from the expert advice of civilian volunteers in the spirit of ‘with the help of a few good civilians’. In particular veterans benefit from the contribution of qualified counsellors who donate time weekly.

Other expert volunteers make contributions with book keeping, skills acquisition, health and well being and advice from the DWP. Other community volunteers have offered help with grant writing.

The charity’s principal source of funds continues to be one off donations from individuals including through their own fundraising efforts and through memorial donations from the veterans who we miss dearly.

The charity also raises funds through our own fundraising such as the annual ball.

We have recently have begun as we grow as a charity so have begun to seek grant writing opportunities.
