Trustees are selected as a representative of each of the armed forces plus Trustee selection methods the chairman and the vice chair. As such a trustee has been appointed (eg. appointed by, elected by) from each of The Army, The Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.

Although the charity does not participate as a part of a wider network, the charity has received funds from ‘Fill your boots’ for the help of specific individuals. These are disclosed in the annual accounts. We have also worked with the RBL and SSAFA.

- Emergency food provision and provision of help where needed to cover the cost of utilities for veterans in need 

- • Resettling of homeless veterans 

- • Assistance in the homes of vulnerable veterans 

**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)** 

- Servicing of veteran mobility equipment e.g. mobility scooters 

- • Provision of meal delivery to homes at key points in the year (e.g. Bonfire night) to facilitate the participation of veterans in the group. For many veterans ill health prevents regular attendance at the drop in centre. These meals meant a chance to see centre staff (who in turn could report on welfare concerns) and post pictures on our social media channels to participate with the wider SVT community 

- • In centre group meals for key events e.g. ER 70[th] anniversary providing opportunity to participate in values core to the armed forces as a part of a community 

- • Emergency help after mental health episodes e.g. help at drop in centre such as counselling and food 

- Ongoing provision of counselling provided by trained counsellors and in turn appropriate supervision for counsellors 

- In centre activities such as chairobics and bingo 

- Workshops including picture framing and chocolate making 

- • Cooking and budgeting lessons including a hot meal for the day 

- • Drop in centre provided for veterans to have a place to be with other veterans 3 days per week 

- Dental treatment provided by volunteer dentists at Dentech 

- • Out of centre activities such as ‘Routes to remembrance which saw 100 poppy wreaths loaded onto QM2 to travel for laying in USA and wreath laying at local war memorial giving veterans the opportunity to participate in the wider community 

## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)** 

The centre benefits hugely from the participation of volunteers, particularly in the spirit of ‘Veterans helping veterans’. 

In addition both the trust and the Drop in centre benefit from the expert advice of civilian volunteers in the spirit of ‘with the help of a few good civilians’. In particular veterans benefit from the contribution of qualified counsellors who donate time weekly.

Other expert volunteers make contributions with book keeping, skills acquisition, health and well being and advice from the DWP. Other community volunteers have offered help with grant writing.

The charity’s principal source of funds continues to be one off donations from individuals including through their own fundraising efforts and through memorial donations from the veterans who we miss dearly. 

The charity also raises funds through our own fundraising such as the annual ball. 

We have recently have begun as we grow as a charity so have begun to seek grant writing opportunities.
