Trustees Report for Period: 31st March 2024 to 31[st] March 2025 Charity’s name: Flax Bourton Hub Registration number : 1195804 Address:
Flax Bourton Village Hall Old Weston Road Long Ashton Bristol BS48 1UR
Trustee names
Claire Merrick James Bernard Merrick (chair) Mark O’Connor Mark William Francis Geoffrey James Coombs
Structure and details of how it is managed
The charity has one chair (James Merrick) and four other trustees of equal standing. There were no changes to the structure during the year.
How it recruits trustees
The trustees were found via the initial setup of the charity, predominantly via advertising at the village hall to request for help.
Additional trustees will be recruited via local advertising if and when required.
Activities and objectives in the year
The village hall remained open throughout the period and was regularly let to local residents. Various projects have been supported including adult dance, toddlers drop in sessions, yoga and Pilates classes, cultural celebration events for the Hindu community and lots of children’s birthday parties.
Achievements and performance, including reporting on its public benefit
The trustees regularly meet and review performance and the charity is deemed to have met its public benefit by remaining open and available at low cost for the benefit of the community. Church groups, toddler sessions, bible groups and many children parties have all benefited from the charity. Solar panels have been installed on the hall to save on electricity and generate an income for the charity. These were supported by a 90% grant so required a small investment from the Charity.
Financial review including any debts and details of your reserves policy (if applicable)
-
The charity income was slightly less than its payments obligations for the period due to the investment in solar panels. However, the different was only £466 which was absorbed with savings.
-
- Surplus funds are held within the bank account as a reserve for future periods where income does not exceed expenses.

Mate all looks good as expected!
Like the bank rec this time around… apart from cell L26 needing to be 13885.36 and then cell N28 being -466.78 (but appreciate that the deliberate mistake to ensure I’m checking haha)
Other minor considerations for Accounts:
-
Cells B11:B12 and F64 could be rounded
-
Cell B46 could be 42293 if sum of rounded numbers… but think for accuracy just retain the underlying total of 42291
-
Is Col J needed, you’ll have last years comparative? Maybe ignore unless asked… as surely no comparison for this years ‘Solar Pigeon Protection’!!
-
A25 you may want to expand
Report:
- Met not me
That’s it mate all good…
Cheers
Phil

Hey mate!
hows things going? only seem to see you momentarily in the bogs at work now!
would you mind doing an independent check of accounts for the village hall again?
I've reconciled the income - expense to the bank statement movements. Its all in the finance pack so hopefully makes sense!
Cheers,
Mark
