AGM Minutes 18th October 2022

Receive and, if accepted, approve the accounts of the group for the financial period 5th August 2021 to 31st March 2022
The new charity was incorporated in March 2021.
There was a deficit during January, February and March.
Restricted funds referred to a donation of £7000 for a new horse which will be released for the purchase of Orbit and £1800 for a holiday. Joey had been donated to the group. With a current deficit of £2000 and four horses to care for, ideas for fund raising and donations are needed.
Approval of the accounts was proposed by Caroline Sanderson and seconded by Wendy Beaumont.
Riding Report
Aimee McConnell presented Binnie Campion's riding report.
It had been a successful year with the final lifting of covid restrictions. More than 20 participants were riding regularly and 8 new participants were due to be assessed during October half term, several of whom had been using the simulator, Tigger. Tigger is being used on a regular basis.
The two new ponies, Orbit and Joey fitted in well and had both been assessed for riding and driving. Supported by Sean, Sharon and Karen, there is now a pool of 7 horses and ponies.
Aimee had recently completed her coach training and was now a qualified coach.
Riding sessions had included countryside challenge skills, improving riding skills in the dressage
arena and many riders had progressed to riding off the lead rein.
Binnie thanked the pony care team for keeping the ponies looking so well and the team of volunteers for their dedicated help and support.
Driving Report
Janet Viner reported that, following a slow start back after the lockdowns, driving is now showing signs of a healthy future. At the beginning of the year, the group were very grateful to Angie Smith who kindly drove over from Immingham with Millie to enable the group to provide fortnightly lessons.
A new pony, Joey, arrived in late spring and was assessed for driving in July. He has been driving every week since. A few weeks later Orbit arrived and, after a period of isolation, was soon driving. He was assessed during the summer.
Both ponies are now being used every week with six drivers, including wheel chair users, each session. Drivers are currently offered fortnightly sessions so this allows for twelve participants in total.
During covid driving sessions had had to be limited to 20 minutes for £12.50. Sessions are now 30 minutes long and prices increased in October from £17.50 to £20.
Chairman's Report
Rachel thanked all those attending the AGM. Though there are financial challenges ahead to cover expenses, she commented on the generous donations and amazing fundraising activities which had taken place.
Janet was thanked for her time as a Trustee and former Chairman and though retired from those roles, she would thankfully be continuing with carriage driving both in the group and nationally.
With two new ponies, the group has moved on in a very positive way for both riding and driving since covid. New opportunities and ventures are being planned: 'tea with a pony', summer holiday camp and maybe participation in regional and even national championships.
The horses, ponies and volunteers are the group's greatest assets and Rachel thanked the volunteers for all the work they did and the time they gave, for their friendship and enthusiasm. Owners of George, Cookie, Millie and Eloise were given special thanks.
Election of Group Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary
Caroline proposed that the current post holders continue in post and this was seconded by Barbara Mohan.
Election of additional trustees and committee members
None were elected.
Appointment of auditor or independent examiner
The Treasurer reported that Sue Carter had stepped down and Becky Taylor had taken on the role.
AOB
Joy Crighton expressed pride in being involved in the group which gave the children so much enjoyment and for which they were so grateful.
Holly McDonnell and Lily Langley would soon start training as riding coaches.
A replacement for Danny would need to be considered eg 15.2 weight bearing horse.
A small, light rider was needed to exercise Joey.
