Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any more
comprehensive benefits to
society as a whole.
Para 1.20 During the period, we have continued to
print and deliver the Bar Hill News every
month through the year (with our usual
break in January). Advertising within the
magazine by local businesses is the
primary source of income for the
Association and has held up surprisingly
well over the period, with some
advertisers dropping out but others
joining for the first time.
The Community Association is also
responsible for the annual Féte &
Festival. This year’s theme is the
Swinging 60s. We will hold the event on
the 8th of July on the village green.
We also organise the Christmas Event
every year in early December outside of
the Parish Council offices featuring the
switching on of the Christmas Lights and
a Christmas Tree.
When setting up the charity, it was always
our intention to support other groups and
activities within the village. Over the last
year, we have contributed books for Bar
Hill Primary School Library and made a
substantial donation to the PTA to
support the school fireworks.
We now have active committees for the
Bar Hill News, the Warm Hub, Christmas
Event, Féte & Festival, and the newly
formed Parks & Recreation, which will be
looking at improvements to the children’s
play area by the school.

Achievements against
objectives set
Para 1.41 Our intention from the start was to
include the Community Hub within the
Charity. This event is currently organised
by the local Church and the expressed
intent was for it to be taken over by the
Charity. Sadly, for various reasons, this
has yet to be completed and work on this
has been abandoned.
It is still my hope (as Chair) that we will
be able to include the Community Hub
under the charity umbrella but this is now
a long-term goal rather than short term.
As the
Performance of fundraising Para 1.41 We have received significant funding in
activities against objectives the form of donations from the Bar Hill
set Residents Association, Bar Hill Parish
Council, as well as the regular income
from the Bar Hill News.
This income was more than sufficient to
cover our operations during the period.
Investment performance Para 1.41 Not Applicable.

sources of funds (including
any fundraising)
Para 1.47 Income from the Bar Hill News.
Investment policy and
objectives including any
social investment policy
adopted
Para 1.46 Not applicable.

A description of the principal
risks facing the charity
Para 1.46 The pandemic highlighted that if we are
unable to print and deliver the
paper-edition of the Bar Hill News for a
significant period of time then our income
will be significantly negatively affected.
Of course our costs will also decrease,
but without the income from the Bar Hill
News it would be very unlikely we could
continue.
Other risks are around personnel. We are
reliant on three or four incredibly active
people who perform most of the work of
the charity.
