We focus on the delivery of educational, cultural, social, advocacy, commemorative, health and well-being events and projects. We work together to create and promote positive contributions from the black and wider community to the diverse wealth of Bedford.

Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are:1) To Develop The Capacity And Skills Of The Members Of The Socially And Economically Disadvantaged Community Of Bedfordshire In Such A Way That They Are Better Able To Identify, And Help Meet, Their Needs And To Participate More Fully In Society.2) The Promotion Of Equality And Diversity For The Public Benefit By, For Example;a) Advancing Education In And Raising Awareness Of Equality And Diversityb) Promoting Activities To Foster Understanding Between People From Diverse Backgrounds:c) Promoting Knowledge And Mutual Understanding Between Different Racial Groups;d) Advancing Education And Raising Awareness About Different Racial Groups To Promote Good Relations Between Persons Of Different Racial Groups;e) Working Towards The Elimination Of Discrimination On The Grounds Of Race3) To Further Or Benefit The Residents Of Bedfordshire In Particular, But Not Exclusively, People Of African And Caribbean Heritage, Without Distinction Of Sex, Sexual Orientation, Race Or Of Political, Religious Or Other Opinions By Associating Together The Said Residents And The Local Authorities, Voluntary And Other Organisations In A Common Effort To Advance Education And To Provide Facilities In The Interests Of Social Welfare For Recreation And Leisure Time Occupation With The Objective Of Improving The Conditions Of Life For The Residents.
