We continued to deliver our food bank service over 2023, with a much higher demand on our services than in 2022 (more than double the amount of food parcels handed out). We unfortunately lost 2 trustees in 2023 – 1 passed away and another resigned. We made 4 new trustee appointments from our existing volunteers with a good mix of life experience and skills. We retain a core group of wonderful volunteers and have continued to strengthen our relationship with local businesses and organisations, receiving various donations during the year. We worked with local community groups such as Brownies and a senior citizen social group to raise awareness about food poverty. We continued to work with a local business that donates fresh food to us every week. Their staff also volunteer with us and make a big difference to our operation. We started selling our excess fresh food through Too Good to Go, providing a much needed additional income stream for the food bank. Para 1.20 | We gave out nearly 6,000 food parcels in 2023. We helped 659 families in total over the year, which equates to 1,141 adults and 600 children. We receive messages like the below: “I can’t tell you the difference you’ve made because it’s too big a difference for words to express. We are eating properly for the first time since before Covid. You’ve got me cooking again. You’ve provided everything we could ask for and more. I feel so indebted to all of you. I just want and need you to know the difference you’ve made to the quality of our lives. You’ve restored my faith in humanity.” |

Hello Sarah
I have completed the examination of the accounts for Feed The Need – Coalville 2023 as presented and checked the financial report against the accounts and the opening and closing balances against the statements.
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements
-
To keep accounting records in accordance with the requirements of the Charity Commission; and
-
To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charity Commission have not been met:
Comments:
The financial report format is now working well. It is easy to check the balances from the bank statements and identify from the account sheet the income and expenditure amounts. The only hard bit appears to be the work that you must do to using a single column for income & expenditure. 655 rows!!! Would it work better for you to have your categories in the columns. The totals could then be transferred easily by linking to the Financial Report.
