Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 We have been instrumental in providing the
children of a favela in Rio de Janeiro and in
neighbouring schools with musical
instruments to enable the teachers of our
linked charity Favela Brass to continue and
develop their excellent work, which has
enabled the students to perform publicly as
an ensemble and rehearse among
themselves.

Achievements against
objectives set

Para 1.41
Performance of fundraising
activities against objectives
set
Para 1.41 Funds achieved from both fundraising
activities and individual donations have
been reduced this year largely due to the
cost of living crisis and knock on effects of
the pandemic, in the UK. This is evident at
car boot sales where negotiated prices are
at about half the level of last year. Also we
have been unable to attend many because
of the poor weather. Personal donations
have also been affected by difficulties
experienced by other charities, so less
money is available generally.
Investment performance
against objectives
Para 1.41 We continue to be able to make purchases
as required but are reviewing sources of
funding.

Other

Financial Review

Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 FoFB holds funds of £2936 at the end of
the period, which is comfortably above our
reserve minimum but less than at the same
period last year.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 We aim to hold a reserve of at least £1500
to enable us to purchase instruments and
other items when needed according to the
needs of Favela Brass.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22 We do not hold reserves in a separate
account from our active bank account due
the comparatively small amounts and the
low level of interest that would be payable.
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24 N/A
Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern
Para 1.23 N/A
