Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document	Para 1.17	To further or benefit the residents of Nottingham City, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to promote the preservation, conservation and the protection of the environment through environmentally friendly gardening practices, the promotion of physical and mental health, and the improvement of the conditions of life in socially and economically disadvantaged communities
Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts.	Para 1.17 and 1.19	44 general volunteer sessions - 77 individuals volunteered during the year. 12 sessions for young families aimed at helping them to feel more comfortable with their children playing outside and provide opportunities to learn about gardening and the natural world. 12 Lithe Lunches which involved harvesting, cooking and eating with a gentle exercise session before the meal aimed at those wanting to increase mobility and to promote healthy eating and confidence in preparing fresh produce from scratch. We also host the Growing Forward project for those with mental health issues that would otherwise stop them from accessing the garden. This is currently on site at no cost to support what we consider a very valuable and much needed project.

Achievements and Performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole.	Para 1.20	The main achievements of the charity have been to: Provide voluntary work, including gardening experience and training to Local people. Provide fresh fruit and vegetables to volunteers, local residents and food banks and community meals. These have improved the physical and mental health of participants, so relieving dependence on NHS services. We have also provided space for Growing Forward, a project to help those struggling with their mental health, with similar rewards. We have held several Events this year, which were open to the public, free and

widely advertised in the area. This provides an opportunity for local people to be outside, enjoy themselves and engage socially with others. Similarly we host events for Small Steps Big Changes who run activities for the under 4s. In more detail our achievements are as follows: Our Events: Wassail - Celebrating our fruit trees combining old 12th Night and Punjabi Lohri traditions, in collaboration with Always Community and the Her Lohri project, which exists to promote equality within the Punjabi community and support women and girls at risk of domestic abuse both locally and in India. Nowruz - Celebrating the Persian New Year at Spring Equinox in collaboration with Refugee Roots, local Iranian and Kurdish refugees and asylum seekers from many countries. Seed Swap evening - in collaboration with Primary to provide affordable plants and seeds to local people. Art in the Garden - in collaboration with Chaos Magic art collective who ran 2 preparatory workshops and showcasing the art of local artists and school children. Pumpkin Day - celebrating pumpkins and specifically aiming to promote use of them as food to avoid food waste. Additionally, the largest pumpkin was supplied to a school to use for maths investigation then to make into soup. Wreath Making by candle light workshop using our own natural resources to provide affordable wreaths for local people. Carols by Candlelight with the Nottingham Ukrainian Ensemble to support humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

Workshops

Medicinal herbal workshop with Nottingham Herbalist aimed at helping individuals produce their own salves and oils from safe natural ingredients.

The Nottingham Forager Ran foraging workshops from the site and additional sessions aimed at those in the LGBQT+ community. Heya - Arabic Women’s Group Used the site as a safe, women-only outdoor space for family cooking and play. We ran 20 sessions for local primary school classes and supplied seeds, plants, vegetables, fruit and herbs to them. 2 workday sessions for pupils from local secondary schools We grew edible plants with volunteers from the Canal and River Trust to be planted in public “pick as you wish” areas. 1 of our volunteers left to work at an outdoor centre in Germany for a 6 month sabbatical, having enjoyed working outside so much! We have provided work experience for 1 college student, and also a work-experience placement for someone looking to change career. We provided plants, seeds and surplus produce to a wide variety of different individuals, community groups and community feeding projects. Recognition We achieved an “Outstanding” Level 5 in the "It’s Your Neighbourhood” Awards from RHS East Midlands in Bloom.
